Overview of plot

45 Seconds from Broadway

Scene Plotsthe plot essentially follows the lives of the characters and the future of the restaurant...............

 

 

Act1 sc1 – Summer   

            

Mickey meets Angela to discuss a trip to England

Solomon tries to pay for his meal, leaves his play to be read and becomes a waiter

Bernie tries to take care of everyone

Megan arrives in New York, she is lonely but optimistic and befriends Solomon

Arleen and Cindy make a brief appearance

Rayleen and Charles have tea

 

 

Act1 sc 2 – Autumn

 

Arleen and Cindy discuss the play they just saw

Solomon is established as a waiter

Zelda chats with Mickey as she mothers him

Megan is not the happy girl she was in scene 1.  She is studying in acting class

Mickey cajoles Megan and and then talks to Solomon about writing and humor

Rayleen and Charles are the center of attention due to their eccentricity 

Mickey pretends to be the manager and has a humorous exchange with them

 

Act2 sc1 – Winter

 

Bessie is waiting to hear if her show has been cancelled for the night due to bad weather She and Mickey use racism as a topic to show off their humor

Bernie tells Mickey that he has sold the restaurant but daren’t tell Zelda.

Zelda and Megan have a conversation about acting, that show cases Zelda

Megan is still in acting class, but now works in the restaurant.  She has this line, “You bet, Zelda.  I love this place.  It’s like a great school with terrific sandwiches.”

Harry Fox, Mickey’s older brother comes to ask Mickey a favor

They have an intense dialogue that allows Mickey to show another side to him

Arleen and Cindy contemplate backing a play

Rayleen and Charles renew their imaginary acquaintance with Mickey

Charles gets to talk

 

Act2 sc2 – Spring

 

Arleen and Cindy talk about a bad investment

Zelda hears about Bernie’s investment in Florida and that he has sold the restaurant   They have a row

Mickey has this line, “ When a man Bernie’s age wakes up in the morning, he feels he has to sell something.”

Mickey’s show is closing

Angela Duncan proposes a new show for Mickey in London

Mickey finds a way to help his nephew, the aspiring comic

Soloman returns from So. Africa

A surprise tying Angela and Soloman together

Denouement
