Joining the Chorus...I want to sing!

Fall Rehearsals begin August 19, 2008

Waimea Community Chorus is a true community organization and is open to all.  Auditions are not necessary to join the chorus, but prospective members should be aware of guidelines for membership:

The Chorus has two rehearsal seasons, which lead up to performance weekends.  They are:  Fall season, from mid-August to performances in mid-December, and Spring season, from mid-January to performances in late May.  Generally speaking, chorus members are expected to perform in the shows at the end of the rehearsal period.

You must be committed to attending the rehearsals, which are held every Tuesday evening at 7 pm at St. James Episcopal Church in central Waimea.  For the upcoming season, if you anticipate missing more than 3 rehearsals between January 22, 2008 and the May performances, you should consult the choral director before joining.

There are some costs involved.... chorus participation fee, music fee, and costume accent cost.  Generally these total about $50 over the course of a season  (Fall or Spring).  There is also a chorus uniform dress for the women.  This can be purchased new, or can often be borrowed or purchased used from former members, or members who are not singing in the current season.  The dress is not always used for every show... for more information call or consult the chorus management at initial rehearsal.
